Uh-huh. That’s right. Childish Gambino. And Beck. For those not too extremely familiar with Beck, you probably didn’t know that he did some rapping on some old tracks many, many eons ago. I, for one, did not know he raps. So this is a return to past days for Beck. Silk Pillow is a melodramatic, slow rap tune featuring Beck guest rapping next to crowd favorite Childish Gambino. The two artists co-produced the song. I’m a little weirded out by the collaboration, but hey, it works fine! The song is the third track off Childish Gambino’s new mixtape.
The Flaming Lips reworked their song Race For The Prize to create a theme song for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
A very hyped Biggie rips through “Whatchu Want” alongside an equally pumped Diddy, then shares the stage with a few friends – namely, Lord Finesse, and Ol’ Dirty Bastard (who drops “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” over Redman’s “Tonight’s da Night” instrumental). As a little bonus, the second half of the video fasts forward to Big doing “Warning” and “Gimme the Loot” at a 1995 Vibe magazine party, as well as a snippet of the “Get Money (Remix)” from 1996 at a Mary J. Blige platinum party.

Warning, NSFW due to some footage and nekkidness of a lady. Lemonade’s super dreamy, new wave-y Neptune is probably my favorite song of theirs out of the ones I know. Today, they’ve released this video for the track. Neptune will be on their upcoming end of May album Diver. These fellas were originally from good ol’ San Francisco too. Mmm mmm good… I love this song and how it’s soooo 80’s synthpop!
Feist did a beautiful acoustic rendition of Metals’ track Cicadas and Gulls on the streets of Oakland with dance crew Turf Feinz and members of their touring buddies Mountain Man. This is fantastic stuff. It’s exactly what I love about music and dance. This is art.
I found out the other day that I will be going to see the Japandroids in June, so here is their latest single, The House That Heaven Built, performed live.
While not an official video for Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Fortunate Son, it’s still pretty kick ass.
Subpop Records just released this new Father John Misty video. The song is This Is Sally Hatchet, off new album Fear Fun. It’s an amazing folk and blues tinged track that made me think of The Shins at times. The cinematic video is really interesting too, though I’m not too clear what the heck is going on. Father John Misty is the solo project name for J. Tillman (ex-Fleet Foxes).
